There are few other countries in the world that have a wider variety of different foods. The United States has always been a melting pot of cultures, and nothing proves this more than the vast multitude of cuisines that are found throughout much of the country.
It’s easy to find Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Indian, or just about every other kind of food imaginable, but there are some dishes that are so so American that it’d be a sin to try and find them anywhere else in the world.
Cornbread
Cornbread is widely considered to be a true staple of many of the USA’s southern states. Cornbread is generally quite simple to make, consisting mainly of cornmeal, and often served along other foods. Cornbread is great on its own with a bit of honey or butter, but it can just as easily make for a great side and is especially popular when having a barbecue.
Apple Pie
The apple pie has long been associated with the USA, and for good reason. If cornbread is a staple of the south, then apple pie is a staple of most of the country, and it’s not hard to see why. Apple pie is believed to have originally been brought over to the USA by immigrants of Europe, but it didn’t take long for it to become something of a national favourite. It’s a great way to end a meal, and it’s fairly popular to have a slice of apple pie along with a piece of cheddar cheese.
Meatloaf
While variations of meatloaf can be found in different forms across the world, the American version of meatloaf is quite unique. First documented in 1918 in a recipe book by Fannie Farmer, meatloaf is eaten on an almost daily basis throughout much of the United States. In fact, it’s such a popular recipe among Americans that it was voted the 7th most enjoyed dish in the country in a survey. Made with a mixture of eggs, breadcrumbs, and ground beef, all shaped together into a loaf and then baked, there are not a lot of Americans that have not tried meatloaf at least once.
Chicken And Waffles
Fried chicken and waffles both have their origins in different countries, but somewhere along the line in the USA someone had the grand idea to put the two together, and the rest is history. Perfect to eat as a full meal, or as a snack while watching TV or playing Canadian online gambling, chicken and waffles is wholesome, delicious, and just about the best meal around.
Hotdogs
The origins of hotdogs can be traced back to Germany, but modern hotdogs are regarded as a true American food. And there’s a lot to love about them. They’re easy to eat, they can be topped with just about anything, they’re simple to make, and most people would be hard-pressed to find a hotdog that didn’t taste good.
